Marrakesh to Essaouira
Day tour starts from Marrakesh and ends in Essaouira
Essaouira was founded by the Phoenicians and located 105 miles from the city of Marrakech, along with the Atlantic Coast of Morocco. Essaouira (formerly Mogador) served as one of the trading ports of the Roman Empire. It became a Portuguese colony during the 17th century. Known by its mighty walls and typical handicrafts, it has been classified as a heritage of humanity by the UNESCO.
The visit to Essaouira starts at the port, which is one of the busiest areas of the city and is dedicated mostly to fishing. You can continue to explore the city, the door of the Navy and the Sqala.
Subsequently, in the afternoon, you will have free time to go swimming or take a stroll along the beach. The latter stretches as far as the eye can see. If you wish, you can go on a boat ride for an hour passing by the islands of Porpora. Also, you can visit the Argan Oil Cooperative.
At sunset, you will return to your hotel in Marrakesh.
